Fall in Florida is a great time to add something new to your garden or your home!

Come down to the Dade City Garden Club on Saturday, October 25, 2025, between 9 am and 3 pm and take advantage of our PLANTS & TREASURES SALE. The sale will be held at the Dade City Garden Club, 13630 Fifth Street (opposite Touchton Park) in Dade City.

The Dade City Garden Club was awarded official accreditation as a Level I Arboretum by the ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program in 2023 and is the only accredited Arboretum in Pasco County. Volunteer members maintain a three-acre site, with gardens assigned to each of our five circles, as well as a pollinator garden and a wildlife edible garden. The sale is planned as a fundraiser to help the garden club recover from recent financial losses due to the disastrous 2024 hurricane season. Expenses for the grounds incurred by the Club were close to $8,000 and that does not include loss of rental income resulting from the damage. The Club lost five mature trees that were part of the inventory of our Arboretum.

Included in plans to enhance the garden club grounds is a new Pergola to be built over the Presidents’ Walk/Celebration Patio. The design, planning and construction of the Pergola is an Eagle Scout project by Talon Pregartner, Eagle Scout candidate and member of BSA Troop 311, Dade City. Talon will be participating in the Plants & Treasures Sale by offering a hot dog with a soda and chips for a donation, with all proceeds going to help fund his Eagle Scout project. Shoppers are encouraged to stop by and support Talon and his good work.

The plants being offered were propagated by our own garden club members, so you know you are getting tried-and-true plants successfully grown in our area. Coming from private collections, many of the plants are not available anywhere else. Some offerings will be hard to find species and cultivars, but with many of the growers on hand to answer questions about their culture techniques, shoppers should be encouraged to start a new or add to a growing plant collection. There will also be many butterfly attractors for both nectar and larvae food as well as succulents and other favorites.

Not looking to dig in the dirt to add something new to your home? Look no further than the amazing assortment of gently used merchandise also available at the sale. In addition to providing a great way to raise funds for the garden club, offering these items for resale helps the garden club support sustainability by keeping “unwanted” goods out of the landfills. It also offers shoppers a way to get quality products at a price lower than buying new. Members are excited to add this new feature to their traditional Plant Sale format and can’t wait to show you what’s available to take home.

Feeling lucky? Take a chance to win one of garden related items offered at the Opportunity Table.

The Dade City Garden Club is a non-profit organization made up of members of the community who are interested in gardening and taking care of our environment. The Club is actively involved in the community and works to preserve natural resources, celebrate Arbor Day and National Garden Week with special events, facilitate the Dade City Monarch Project along with its signature event, the annual Dade City Monarch Butterfly Festival, and organize fund-raising projects to restore and preserve the historic clubhouse and grounds. The club rents the building and grounds for weddings and other large group meetings, with all proceeds also going towards maintenance.

Don't miss this opportunity to support the garden club while getting beautiful plants and new treasures for your home and yard.
