Flower Show depicts Dade City--Still Growing!
The Dade City Garden Club is proud to present a National Garden Club (NGC) Small Standard Flower Show on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 10 am to 3 pm at the garden club center, 13630 5th Street in Dade City. Free and open to the public, “Dade City—Still Growing” is the theme that will be interpreted through judged horticulture, floral design, and educational displays created by members of the Club.
The purpose of an NGC Flower Show is to educate club members and the viewing public; to stimulate interest in horticulture and floral design; to provide an outlet for creative expression; and to communicate NGC goals and objectives. The Design Division of the show will present floral designs interpreting the “Gems of Dade City”, which focuses on the places and things to see and do in town. The Horticulture Division will feature places in Dade City to experience plants, flowers, and gardening. An Educational Division will depict Dade City’s special designations.
Visitors to the Show will be able to cast their vote to choose the winner of the 2023 People’s Choice Ribbon in Design. In addition to the Flower Show attraction itself, attendees will also be able to shop at the Garden Market Bazaar, which will be held in conjunction with the flower show on the garden club grounds from 10 am to 3 pm. The Bazaar will feature assorted vendors, crafts, food, and prizes. Club members also want to tell everyone to bring their knives, scissors, yard and other tools for professional sharpening at the event.

Ornament is available now!
The Dade City Garden Club has announced the release of its 2022 Ornament. Since 1994 the Dade City Garden Club has designed and sold an annual ornament depicting landmarks, institutions, and activities of Dade City to preserve its rich history and strengthen community pride.
The design of the 2022 ornament is based on the garden club itself and is issued during the club’s 75th Anniversary year. The tree is the center of the club, with roots running deep into the ground to sustain it. Divided into six circles, each of the flowers on the ornament represents one of the circles: Azalea, Camellia, Hibiscus, Hollyhock, Magnolia, and Poinsettia. The flowers are as varied as the circles they represent, and each contributes to the overall mission of education and community enrichment.
Creative Mass Design Class
The Dade City Garden Club has announced it will be hosting a Floral Design Class to help prepare both garden club members and the community for participation in the garden club’s Flower Show scheduled for Spring 2023. The design technique to be taught is “Creative Mass Design” and the class will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 9 am to 12 Noon at the garden club.
Janice Hamlin, a National Garden Clubs Flower Show Judge and Flower Show Design Instructor, will be teaching this hands-on class. Janice has lived in Florida since early childhood and has always loved plants, flowers, birds, bees, and all things natural. She loves to teach and demonstrate and has exhibited at the World Flower Shows in Boston, Dublin, and Barbados. Seasoned designers and novices, garden club members and non-members are all welcome to attend.
